Optomec Printer (optomec-printer)

Overview

The Aerosol Jet (AJ) 300 system provides the ability to print fine-feature patterns onto variety of substrates, with feature sizes as small as 10 um. The printing process is non-contact and conformal. During the AJ printing process, liquid-source ink is atomized into droplets ranging from 1 to 5 um in diameter. The droplets are entrained in a gas stream and directed into the print head where an annular flow of gas compresses the aerosol stream to a diameter as small as 10 um. The jet of aerosol droplets exits the print head at high velocity and is deposited onto the target substrate. The atomizer may be used for inks having a viscosity in the range of approximately 1 to 1000 cP.

Steps to become a tool user

  1. Become a member of SNF.
  1. Shadowing is required. Contact a qualified lab member of the tool to arrange to ‘shadow’. It would be best to find someone who has used the system often. If you don’t know of anyone, you may check reservations or SNF usage to find a qualified user. We recommend that you be with the lab member for the full time while operating the tool and ask lots of questions during the shadowing. You may have to shadow a qualified user more than one time to be comfortable with the tool. Please follow the instructions on this form: Shadowing at SNF
  2. Contact the primary trainer: Swaroop Kommera
